Make the evidence gap visible

A useful message begins with a named collection or article. Add the colourway and the date or version of the source where available. Then separate what the document actually states from the value you still need confirmed.

  • State fiber composition with percentages rather than a general “cotton” or “linen” label.
  • Keep weight or GSM and usable width with their units.
  • Identify weave construction, yarn count, finish and intended garment use separately.
  • For colorfastness, pilling, shrinkage or dimensional stability, include the method and result if known.
  • Do not send payment information, confidential designs or personal sizing data.

If the source contains a range, do not convert it into a single guaranteed value. If the source describes a collection rather than the article, label that distinction. A photograph of a swatch can support colour or texture discussion, but lighting and screen rendering prevent it from serving as a colorfastness result or production approval.
